OPTIFAST® Partial-Meal Replacement Program

The OPTIFAST Partial-Meal Replacement Program is designed for people with a BMI between 25 and 29.9 who are free from weight-related health conditions. If you are looking to lose between 25 and 49 pounds, may be the right program for you. The OPTIFAST Partial-Meal Replacement Program may also be appropriate for you if you have a BMI of 30 or greater but need to lose weight at a more moderate pace, if your work schedule or duties would make it difficult for you to stick to the OPTIFAST Full-Meal Replacement Program.

Program Overview

The OPTIFAST Partial-Meal Replacement Program includes nutritional counseling, a partial meal replacement diet plan, personalized exercise instruction, periodic medical monitoring to assure you stay in the best of health while losing weight, and a program designed to help you change your behavior and lifestyle to build new skills that will improve your ability to lose weight now and keep it off in the future.

How Does the OPTIFAST Partial-Meal Replacement Program Work?

When you are following a partial-meal replacement diet, you substitute OPTIFAST nutritional products, a line of specially formulated liquid meal replacement products, for at least two meals and sometimes one to two snacks each day. You consume traditional low-calorie meals and snacks at other times of the day. For its convenience in addition to the ease of calorie control, if you are following a partial-meal replacement program, you may choose to eat frozen diet meals rather than spend the time and energy preparing nutritious, low-calorie foods. If you enjoy cooking, however, our dietitian, Renu Vij, can teach you how to plan and prepare healthful, low-calorie meals and snacks for yourself and your family.

How Long is the Partial-Meal Replacement Program?

Eighteen weeks is the typical length of the partial meal replacement diet, but the length of this program varies depending on your weight loss goals, health and lifestyle needs. The NWMC dietitian, Renu Vij, will work with you to develop a program that meets your specific weight loss goal, lifestyle, food preferences, and physical needs. This level of customization means that your program may be shorter or longer than the typical 18-week program.

How Much Can I Expect to Lose?

You can expect to lose 1-2 pounds per week while following the OPTIFAST Partial-Meal Replacement Program. The actual rate of weight loss varies between individuals, but by the end of the typical 18-week Partial-Meal Replacement Program, most people lose about twenty-five pounds.

Ensuring Your Success

We strongly advise you to participate in our ongoing weight maintenance support group once you attain your goal weight. Doing so will help you apply the lifestyle and weight management skills you learned while losing weight.
